About this boat
The Garcia Exploration 45 is a 45-foot aluminium bluewater sailing yacht, intended for a couple who want to sail in remote regions. The design was developed together with Jimmy Cornell, with the Northwest Passage as its inspiration. Safety, autonomy, comfort and simple handling are central.

The aluminium hull has a plate thickness of 5 to 12 mm and watertight bulkheads forward and aft of the steering gear. Thanks to the fully retractable centreboard, the draught reduces from 2.90 to 1.14 metres, so shallow anchorages are within reach and the boat can even dry out.
The twin aluminium rudders have a skeg and a composite breakaway zone at the top, and the propeller shaft is protected inside a fin. Outside, steering takes place under a fixed hardtop inspired by IMOCA racers, which can be closed off with a cover. All lines lead back to the cockpit.
Inside is a sheltered wheelhouse-style navigation station with 270-degree visibility. There are layouts with two or three double cabins, two bathrooms, a technical room and a sail locker. The hull has 74 mm of insulation, and there is double glazing and diesel heating. The interior was designed by Isabelle Racoupeau.
For autonomy, there are tanks for 700 litres of diesel and 500 litres of water, a watermaker and power from a hydrogenerator, solar panels and a generator. The diesel engine delivers 80 hp. Key dimensions: hull length 13.49 m, beam 4.44 m, displacement 14.61 tonnes, ballast 4.54 tonnes and 91 m² upwind. Design: Berret-Racoupeau.
