About this boat
The Elling E4 has been built since 2004 and is the model with which Elling delivered on its promise: in December 2008, three E4s crossed the Atlantic Ocean. The boat is self-righting and passed a 360-degree capsize test in 2014.

The yard describes the E4 as suitable for Channel and Atlantic crossings, all year round.
The wheelhouse has a raised helm with panoramic visibility; there is no flybridge. The hardtop has a sliding roof and the radar mast can be lowered electrically, which helps at low bridges. On deck, in the wheelhouse and in the lower saloon there is room for more than ten people on day trips. Daylight from the wheelhouse makes the saloon bright and open.
The lower saloon has a sofa and a TV that rises at the push of a button, with a separate galley alongside. According to YachtBuyer, there are three cabins for six guests, including a full-beam owner's cabin aft with en-suite bathroom. The yard describes the E4 as one of the quietest boats in its class thanks to its insulation and engineering.
The semi-displacement hull is built with Twaron aramid fibre and has double glazing. A single diesel engine keeps the centre of gravity low. YachtBuyer lists engines from a Volvo Penta D4-180 to a 600 hp D8-600, with a cruising speed of around 16 knots and a top speed of up to 19 knots. The range is around 1,500 nautical miles at 7.5 knots.
