About this boat
The Elling E3 is the smallest model from the Dutch yard Elling and has been built since 1997. The Elling concept was created with one goal: a production boat under 15 metres capable of crossing the Atlantic Ocean. The yard describes the E3 as exceptionally seaworthy and, like a lifeboat, designed it to be self-righting.

The wheelhouse has a raised helm with all-round visibility; there is no flybridge. Daylight enters the lower saloon through the wheelhouse windows, making it feel more spacious. It has a curved sofa and a TV that rises out of the furniture at the push of a button. An electric radar mast and a sliding roof in the hardtop are part of the concept.
The galley is laid out separately, with a four-zone hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer-dryer, large fridge, separate freezer and Corian worktops; there is a wine cellar beneath the floor. The standard layout offers two cabins with two double beds and a bunk bed, including an owner's cabin with its own toilet and shower.
According to the brochure, the hull is built with Twaron aramid fibre for extra impact resistance. A single main engine keeps the centre of gravity low and contributes to stability. According to YachtBuyer, engine options range from a Volvo Penta D3-150 to a 600 hp D8-600, with a top speed of up to around 19 knots. The range is around 1,500 nautical miles at 7.5 knots.
Length overall is 13.80 m, beam 4.25 m and draught 1.20 m, with a displacement of around 13,608 kg at half load (source: YachtBuyer). There are 1,500 litres of diesel and 850 litres of drinking water on board. The yard builds the E3 to CE design category A (Ocean) and states there is room for more than ten people on day trips.
