The Figaro BENETEAU 3 is the first mass-produced, foiling one-design monohull ever to be designed, the result of a collaboration between the experts at Beneteau and the architectural firm Van Peteghem Lauriot-Prévost, known for their designs of two recent winners of the Vendée Globe. The inboard foils reduce drift and improve the boat’s righting moment without compromising stability, whilst the ballast-free foam sandwich hull is built to modern performance standards whilst retaining the reliability of its predecessor.
The aft-set mast, inspired by the IMOCA 60 racing class, enables a performance-oriented sail plan. Solo sailors have access to a full sail plan comprising a square-topped mainsail, genoa, jib and an optional 105 m² masthead spinnaker. The Seanapps app provides real-time insight into on-board systems, route planning and sailing analysis via a smartphone. The boat won both the European Yacht of the Year 2018 title and the Yacht & Yachting Award 2018.
