Like the other Kraken models, the 50 features the Zero Keel, in which the ballast keel is fully integrated into the hull without any bolts. The Alpha Rudder is mounted on a skeg and rotates on three independent bearings, ensuring that the rudder remains protected in the event of a collision and that the steering mechanism remains accessible.
The hull features an extra-heavy laminate structure in the impact zones and a hand-laid frame that complements the interior. The recessed bulwark provides a firm foothold, and the 80-centimetre-high centreboards with triple wire handrails are well above the usual height.
The solent rig allows one person to adjust the sail trim from the cockpit. When sailing close-hauled, the boat carries 134.20 square metres of sail with a displacement of 19,000 kilograms, of which 6,500 kilograms is ballast. This gives a ballast ratio of just over thirty-four per cent.
The standard equipment is remarkably comprehensive and includes, amongst other things, a Kohler generator, Webasto heating, refrigeration by Veco Frigomar, a triple fuel filtration system, Garmin navigation at two helm stations, Harken-powered winches, a bow thruster, davits, a life raft and a watermaker.
