The First 24 SE, designed by Manuard YD with an interior by Sito, is 7.29 metres long and combines high-performance racing with practical cruising. The lightweight vacuum-infused vinyl ester hull, combined with a composite swivel keel and carbon rig, makes both competitive one-design racing and coastal cruising possible.
The spacious, open and thoughtfully designed ergonomic cockpit works well whether sailing solo, as a pair or with a full crew. The stable hull, deep ballast keel and twin rudders ensure control during exhilarating downwind planing, whilst remaining responsive even in light winds – a key advantage in a variety of sailing conditions. Despite the focus on performance, the interior is surprisingly liveable, with a minimalist cabin for four adults featuring a V-shaped forepeak and pull-out side berths, as well as storage solutions that form an integral part of the boat’s structure. The boat is road-transportable, unsinkable and has an active owners’ community.
