The First 14 introduces novice sailors to the world of fast, gliding dinghies. It is a light, fast and exciting dinghy, designed with the sailor in mind, and is intended above all to be accessible, easy to handle and enjoyable. Ship designer Samuel Manuard, in collaboration with Sito and Seascape (concept and R&D), designed a wide, stable hull with a wave-piercing bow, built using the vacuum infusion sandwich technique and weighing just 72 kilos.
On board: a furling, self-tacking jib; a spacious open cockpit free of cluttered lines; two centreboard positions to adjust the sail area; an aluminium rig with Dacron sails for low maintenance; and a higher boom for improved ergonomics. A trapeze is not required, making the First 14 an ideal entry-level dinghy for one or two sailors, offering an exciting sailing experience that is easy to handle whether sailing solo or as a pair.
A notable feature is the removable wheels, which allow you to explore the area without having to sail back to the starting point. Light enough to be transported on the roof of a car, and thanks to the flat bench design and the split mast, it can also be easily transported inside a car. Length 4.3 m, beam 1.7 m, CE design category D2.
