The saloon is light and open and flows seamlessly into the aft deck via a sliding door and retractable windows, so that, in practice, the interior and exterior become a single space. The vessel measures 12.25 metres by 3.8, has a draught of 1.10 at maximum load and weighs 9,600 kilograms when empty. The air draft is 3.65 metres without the mast and 4.80 metres with the mast. There are six berths, spread across three cabins.
Unlike the smaller models, the S40 is available with two engine options. The yard offers either two Yanmar 8LV 370 engines with sterndrive or V-drive, delivering a combined 740 hp, or two Yanmar 6LY 400 engines with V-drive, delivering a combined 800 hp. The fuel tank has a capacity of 900 litres.
The fresh water tank has a capacity of 400 litres, the boiler 50 litres and the holding tank 155 litres. Viknes certifies the vessel in CE design category B for twelve people on board. No price is listed on the website.
