The BWA GTO 178 is the smallest open RIB with a console in the GTO range, designed as a manoeuvrable boat for short trips. The eighth-generation GTO range was unveiled at the Genoa Boat Show in September 2025 and will be available from 2026.

The fibreglass hull measures 5.20 metres overall, with a CE length of 5.08 metres and a beam of 2.15 metres. According to the yard, it weighs around 320 kilograms.
The GTO 178 is designed for outboard engines. BWA recommends 50 hp, with a minimum of 30 hp and a maximum of 90 hp. The fuel tank has a capacity of 51 litres.
BWA states a capacity of eight passengers; no CE design category is specified. At the rear there is a bench with a folding backrest and a seat in front of the console.
Standard equipment includes, amongst other things, a compass, a colour control panel, a fibreglass bow, towing and mooring eyes, an integrated swim platform and a swim ladder. The tube is supplied as standard in Fabric Impression Military.
