French basalt catamarans, built to eco-design principles.
Windelo builds sailing catamarans in Canet-en-Roussillon, in the Occitanie region of France. The company was founded by Olivier Kauffmann, who serves as chairman, and Gautier Kauffmann, who is the managing director. The yard began with a production hall of approximately 1,600 square metres on a quay site that allows for future expansion.
A key feature is the construction using basalt fibre and a composite made from recycled PET, combined with a construction method that deliberately minimises the use of moulds. The catamarans were designed by Christophe Barreau and Frederic Neuman and will be fitted with electric or hybrid propulsion systems. The range comprises the Windelo, 50, 54, 58 and 62, each also available in a sportier version.
