Questions about motor sailers

To Advice →
What is the difference between a motor sailer and a standard sailing yacht?

A motor sailer has a deckhouse or inboard helm and a relatively powerful engine. A standard sailing yacht has, at most, a sprayhood above the entrance.

Does a motor sailer sail less well?

It often cannot sail as close to the wind and is heavier than a comparable sailing yacht. On the other hand, it offers greater comfort and shelter in adverse weather conditions.

Who is a motorsailer for?

For sailors who want to keep going in all weathers. A motorsailer has a protected wheelhouse or inside helm position, a larger engine and bigger tanks, so you can motor comfortably when the wind drops or turns against you.
