The Dutchman Explorer 6 is the smallest model in the Explorer range, a series of steel expedition yachts built by the yard in Stavoren. The vessel is designed for long, independent voyages off the beaten track. The hull measures 19.90 metres in length by 5.70 metres in beam, with a draught of 1.70 metres.

A distinctive feature is the large, partially covered flybridge with a wet bar and a swivel crane for the dinghy. The aft deck is also covered.
The propulsion system consists of two 225 hp diesel engines. The top speed is 10 knots, and the cruising speed is 9 knots. With 7,000 litres of fuel on board, the vessel has a range of 2,500 nautical miles at economical speed.
The fresh water tank has a capacity of 1,500 litres and the holding tank 500 litres. A hydraulic bow thruster is included as standard. The vessel is CE-certified in Category A.
