According to the yard, the Rhea 850 Timonier embodies the very essence of its heritage: a genuine fishing cruiser with timeless lines. The high gunwales and the reinforced fibreglass-reinforced polyester construction are designed for intensive use at sea. The cockpit is framed by sturdy handrails with neat chrome fittings, and the helm is ergonomically designed with ample seating for the skipper and passengers.
Inside, the emphasis is on accessibility and sustainability, with an atmosphere that the yard itself describes as ‘old-school chic’. There are berths on board and a galley with a full range of cooking equipment, so you can also go on longer coastal trips that include an overnight stay. The naval architecture is by Joubert-Nivelt, and the design by Danglade.
The hull measures 8.65 metres, with an overall length of 9.75 metres including the platform and a beam of 3.30 metres. It weighs 4,500 kilograms and the fuel tank holds 550 litres. You can choose between a single engine delivering 320 to 380 hp or twin engines delivering 230 to 250 hp. The type-approval covers eight passengers in category B and ten in category C.
