The Q30 from the Finnish company Q Yachts is a fully electric day cruiser measuring 9.3 metres in length with a narrow hull just 2.2 metres wide. This ratio was chosen to minimise drag, ensuring that the available energy goes a long way. The yard summarises the concept as ‘electric silence’: boating without engine noise, vibrations or exhaust fumes, with eight people on board.
Beneath the deck lies a spacious cabin, designed for relaxing after a trip or for staying on board. Above deck, the design remains sleek and uncluttered. The propulsion system consists of two Torqeedo Cruise 10.0 FP pods with a combined continuous power output of 20 kW, powered by a 30 kWh lithium battery. An additional 10 kWh battery pack is available as an option.
The steering is fully electric via drive-by-wire using a joystick, allowing the pods to turn independently. This makes manoeuvring in a tight berth easy. Q Yachts lists three cruising modes: quiet cruising at 6 knots with a range of up to 60 nautical miles, faster cruising at 9 knots with a range of 42 nautical miles, and a top speed of 14 knots with a range of 21 nautical miles. Charging is via shore power as standard; fast chargers are optional.
