About this boat

An asymmetric spinnaker pulls it downwind to speeds that can exceed 18 knots. Setting up is simple: one person can step the mast and launch the boat.
The Open 5.70 is trailable and can be towed behind a car on a standard driving licence. That makes it suitable for racing and weekend trips at different locations. It is also an international one-design class with an active class association.
The mainsail measures 17 m² and the jib 8.31 m². Downwind, a 35 m² asymmetric spinnaker is added, which underlines the boat's sporty character. At 510 kg, it is light enough to tow easily.
Key dimensions: length 5.70 m, beam 2.53 m, weight 510 kg and a sail area of 25.31 m² (mainsail plus jib), with a spinnaker of 35 m². Draught, keel weight and CE design category are not stated on the Hobie site; the boat has no engine.
