Aquanaut has been building it in Sneek since 2013. Despite its size, it remains in CE design category B, designed for seagoing under the most extreme conditions after the ocean-class vessels.
Unlike the smaller models in the range, the 1700 II is powered by two engines: a pair of Perkins M150Ti engines, each producing 148 hp. This not only provides more power, but also redundancy, which offers peace of mind on longer crossings. The cruising speed is around 8 knots and the top speed around 11 knots, slightly higher than that of the shorter EV models.
The fuel and water capacity totals 3,000 litres of fuel and 1,200 litres of water, more than double that of the 1500 II. This makes it the model in the range with the longest range on a single tank. Below deck, there are three cabins, accommodating six people, spread across a vessel that offers plenty of space without compromising on seaworthiness.
