Boreal builds aluminium-hulled sailing yachts in Minihy-Treguier, on the north coast of Brittany. The yard specialises in vessels designed for long ocean voyages, from the tropics to the polar regions, where simplicity, robustness and ease of maintenance take precedence over luxury. The aluminium hull and centreboard make it possible to run aground and sail in shallow or ice-covered waters.

The fleet comprises the Boreal 44, 47, 47.2, 52 and 56. These models have won numerous awards, with the Boreal 52 named European Yacht of the Year 2015 in the cruising class and the Boreal 47.2 named European Yacht of the Year 2021. The Boreal 44 was named Yacht of the Year in the Netherlands in 2011.
