The raised saloon offers a view of the outside from every seat and is well ventilated and lit by large hull windows and roof hatches. This ensures that the crew remain in touch with their surroundings even in bad weather.
With a displacement of 22,000 kilograms and 6,900 kilograms of ballast, the 58 is solidly built. The sail area is 133 square metres, distributed across a nine-tenths rig with aft-swept spreaders. The mast rises 22 metres above the water.
The keel is 2.30 metres deep as standard, with a shallow version of 2.10 metres and a deep version of 2.50 metres available as alternatives. In practice, this choice determines which harbours and anchorages remain accessible.
In the cockpit, the yard has fitted Andersen winches and Harken deck fittings, arranged in such a way that a small crew can reach everything within easy reach. This means that the sail control system can be operated from the helm.
