It is a steel displacement yacht with CE design category A (ocean-going class) certification, and has been on the Sneek yard’s list since 2010. It is designed as an explorer: range and seaworthiness take precedence over speed.
Whilst the smaller GV 1350 is powered by a single engine, the 1500 is powered by two Volvo D4 engines, each producing 225 hp. This twin-engine setup offers manoeuvrability advantages in ports and, more importantly on ocean routes, a backup should one engine fail whilst underway. The fuel tank holds 1,200 litres and the water tank 800 litres.
Below deck, there are two cabins and two bathrooms, accommodating a maximum of four people. This is a deliberate choice: on a 15-metre vessel designed for long crossings, space per passenger is more important than the number of berths. The steel hull is in keeping with the character of the series.
