About Yamaha WaveRunner
Yamaha’s range of personal watercraft, from the stand-up SuperJet to the FX series.
WaveRunner is the name used by Yamaha Motor for its personal watercraft. The first model was launched in 1986: the WaveRunner 500, known in Japan as the Marine Jet 500T, which Yamaha presented as the first two-seater personal watercraft with a seated design. From 1995, the brand switched from two-stroke to four-stroke engines, and in 2002 the FX-140 followed, the first low-emission four-stroke personal watercraft.
The range comprises five families. The SuperJet is the upright model for a single rider, the JetBlaster is the compact entry-level model with the 1049 cc TR-1 engine, the VX series forms the broad mid-range segment, and the GP models are the sporty versions. At the top of the range is the FX series, of which the FX Cruiser SVHO – measuring 3.58 metres, with a supercharged 1,812 cc four-cylinder engine and seating for three – is the touring model. The hulls therefore range from approximately 2.4 to 3.6 metres, suitable for both day trips and longer journeys.
