What is a Marrekrite mooring?

Marrekrite is the recreation board of the Frisian municipalities and the province. It maintains hundreds of moorings on the Frisian lakes and canals: jetties, sheet piling and buoys in the countryside, without a harbour master and without facilities. Mooring is free, for up to three days.

The rules in brief

  • No more than three days in the same place
  • Do not leave the boat unattended (a walk or bike ride is fine)
  • Do not moor in the reeds
  • Approach slowly: no wash
  • No open fires; dogs on a lead
  • Waste in the Marrekrite containers, not on the bank

The full rules are available from Marrekrite.
