What is a Marrekrite mooring?
Marrekrite is the recreation board of the Frisian municipalities and the province. It maintains hundreds of moorings on the Frisian lakes and canals: jetties, sheet piling and buoys in the countryside, without a harbour master and without facilities. Mooring is free, for up to three days.
The rules in brief
- No more than three days in the same place
- Do not leave the boat unattended (a walk or bike ride is fine)
- Do not moor in the reeds
- Approach slowly: no wash
- No open fires; dogs on a lead
- Waste in the Marrekrite containers, not on the bank
