Boats with this engine
Boats on which the Mercury FourStroke 20 is available as standard or as an option, as stated by the builder.
Which shaft length do I need?
The shaft length must match the transom height of your boat: the height of the transom, measured from the top to the bottom of the hull.
- 1
Measure your transom
Measure the transom height in the middle of the transom, straight down to the bottom of the hull.
- 2
Compare with the engine
For each shaft length the manufacturer states which transom height it is meant for. Choose the shaft that matches.
- 3
Too short or too long?
Too short: the propeller draws in air and cooling works poorly. Too long: more drag and less speed. In doubt, ask the builder or a dealer.
