The Excess 14 is a playful, dynamic sailing catamaran measuring 13,34 metres in length and 7.87 metres in beam. The model is regarded as the purest expression of the brand’s philosophy: combining performance and comfort in a layout that has not yet been seen on the market in this form, in either the owner’s or charter versions. The design is by VPLP Design, which has drawn on its experience in ocean racing.
The sail plan consists of a forward-set mast, a square-topped mainsail and a large overlapping genoa, complemented by a composite bowsprit. The inverted, sloping bow waves add to the sailing pleasure. The helms are situated right at the stern, in direct contact with the rudders, and operate via a direct steering system using textile lines. This provides a noticeably better feel at the helm.
Inside, the volume and headroom are maintained within a warm and light interior. The beds are wide and comfortable, the bathrooms have a separate shower, and in the four-cabin version there are four cabins with four toilets and four separate showers. A three-cabin layout is also available. Furthermore, there are spacious, compartmentalised storage areas, a fold-away chart table, untinted windows, a low boom and SEANAPPS on-board monitoring. Two 45 hp engines provide propulsion under power.
